District Court Resource Center to Continue Hosting Employer of the Day Events

WorkSource teamed up with Pierce County District Court’s Resource Center to host “Employer of the Day” events, where employers can connect with community job seekers.

On Friday, Oct. 26, WorkSource brought representatives from Fastenal, a local fastener, tool, and supply distribution center in Lakewood to the Resource Center to meet with local job seekers. WorkSource provided laptops participants could borrow during the event to fill out their applications and interview during the event.

During the planning phase of the event, Resource Center staff were informed attendance of 15-20 people would be considered a success. The event was deemed a success, as there were 31 participants that were referred by Pierce County District Court’s Alternative Programs and Probation department, Resource Center partners that include Washington State Department of Social and Health Services, Washington State Department of Corrections, Juvenile Rehabilitation, and various courts in Pierce County.

Based on the success of the inaugural “Employer of the Day” event, WorkSource plans to use District Court’s Resource Center space to hold these events monthly, which allows employers with positions to fill to connect with job seekers about position needs, answer questions about open positions and hiring process, accept applications, and even interview and hire on the spot.
